Holly by stephen king

Holly, by Stephen King

Holly is a quirky private investigator that is a bit OCD.  She is drawn into a case by a frantic plea from a mother whose daughter has gone missing.  In her search, Holly starts to discover a few other missing people then the connections start to kick in but who is taking them and why?  Without revealing too much, this tale will require a strong stomach in parts.  Not only for the “gross-out” parts but in the reviews some folks were a little taken back by the political under-tone from King as it was written during Covid.  In a lot of books, that will happen so just set that part aside and feast on this tasty tale.

a discovery of witches

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Diana Bishop is a historian who refuses to acknowledge that she is a witch until she pulls up an old manuscript from the Oxford library.  This releases a chain of thrilling events- unleashes her magical powers, alerts all the creatures that someone has accessed the Book of Life and sparks a race to gather all the missing pages, which puts Diana’s life at risk.  She partners up with a handsome Vampire to help her in her journey. And against all odds, they begin a powerful romance that transcends time.  This is a trilogy so it is strongly recommended that all three books are on hand before beginning as you will want to continue straight away.  SIDE NOTE: this is currently airing on Netflix but I recommend reading the books first- they are always better than the TV show.
